Fort Myers, FL – In the month of July, DAAS CO-OP Art Gallery & Gifts is showcasing the artwork of the many local artists who answered the call for artists, announced in earlier this year. The theme: Black and White only. The opening reception is scheduled for Friday, July 1, 2022, from 6:00pm to 9:30pm, in conjunction with the monthly Fort Myers Art Walk event. The exhibition will be on display through July 31, 2022.
The cooperative decided to host an open invitation to all southwest Florida artists, challenging them to use only two colors: black and white. All mediums are considered acceptable, but there were some stipulations, as published in the gallery’s website. It is not surprise that all artists’ submissions excelled and exceeded the expectations.
The magic of the exhibition is a cohesiveness, regardless of the themes or subjects, mediums or dimensions. All pieces together, transform the space in a monochromatic scheme, orchestrated by the curation of member artist and co-owner Xavier Brignoni – who is also participating in the exhibition.
“When the artwork is well finished and balanced, it is easy to display. When there are multiple strong pieces together, from various artists, it is important to find a connection and display them in a way that it makes sense for the viewer – even if these pieces were never meant to be next to each other.” – comments Brignoni, who is also a founding member of the Union Artist Studios.
