I’m in my Head Again, by Michael Santacroce

Fort Myers, FL – In the month of August, DAAS CO-OP Art Gallery & Gifts Presents I’m in My Head Again, the artwork of visual artist Michael V. Santacroce. The opening reception is scheduled for Friday, August 4, 2023, from 6:00pm to 9:30pm, in conjunction with the monthly Fort Myers Art Walk event. The exhibition will be on display through August 27, 2023.

Michael V. Santacroce graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University in the Spring of 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts, focusing on printmaking. He currently works as the gallery coordinator at the Cape Coral Art Center. In 2022 he started a collaboration with the FGCU Wasmer Art Gallery to curate an annual alumni exhibition hosted at the Art Center. Additionally, Michael teaches courses on introductory and advanced relief printmaking at the Cape Coral Art Center. He is currently working on a big project with FGCU that will be unveiled in October 2023.

Santacroce’s process of creating art uses a stream of consciousness approach, in which his linework becomes automatic and a reflection of his own subconscious thoughts. He finds the carving processes involved in relief printmaking therapeutic and focuses on the expressive qualities of his art to help work through complex emotions and ideas. His work draws inspiration from his own personal struggles with identity, sexuality, and mental health. Though he primarily works in ink, Michael has recently been applying his printmaking skills to ceramics and enjoying learning a new medium to create with.

DAAS CO-OP Art Gallery & Gifts is located at 1815 Fowler Street, in the Butterfly Estates complex in Fort Myers, FL. The gallery’s business hours are Wednesday to Sunday from 10am to 3pm.
