Not on Canvas, A Group Exhibition featuring Nick Masiello

Born in Dover Delaware, Masiello is a painter, sculptor and street artist. Working mainly with aerosol, acrylics, silkscreens, metal, found objects/recycled material, and photography he creates abstract landscapes, portraits, sculptures, graffiti, and written word pieces that reflect the current issues in the world. Such topics include equal human rights, social class inequalities, war and violence in other nations, economic and political unrest, our interaction with the earth, life and death, dream states and nightmares, and our human connection to the universe.

Masiello moved to southwest Florida as a young child and grew up in Port Charlotte. He received his bachelor’s degree in art from Florida Gulf Coast University in April 2012 and has since been a leading member in the local arts scene. He has worked with several large name artists and galleries in the area, curating, installing, and transporting art works since 2009. He is one of the founding members of Bootleggers Gallery, a pop-up art gallery on ArtWalk and MusicWalk where the artists take home 100% of their profits. The artist has shown his works in Art Basel, the Sidney Biannual in Australia, Museum of Outdoor Arts in Denver, Florida Gulf Coast University, Alliance for the Arts, HW Gallery in Naples, Sidney and Berne Davis Art Center, Arts Bonita, AC Hotel Tampa, Otherside Ink Gallery in Punta Gorda, Howl Gallery, Dysfunctional Grace Gallery in Ybor, a mural for Vice News Miami in 2014, and others. 

The Union Artist Studios is a group of 17 artists with individual spaces in the Edwards Building of the Alliance for the Arts campus. Each “Union Artist” bring their unique approach and style to the show, promising to be one of the most interesting exhibitions in the gallery’s schedule.

Everyone is invited to attend this great event on the first Friday of March. DAAS CO-OP Art Gallery & Gifts is located at 10051 McGregor BLVD, STE 104 in Fort Myers, FL (adjacent to Arts & Eats Café) in the Alliance for the Arts Campus.
