The Makers Market Event

The Fort Myers Makers’ Market Returns 11/1/21, now with Social Distancing in mind!

Vendors of handmade items are sought for the second Makers’ Market at the Butterfly Estates complex in Fort Myers, FL for Saturday, November 6, 2021 from 9am to 3pm. We are very excited to bring back this event, especially after the ordeal of this past year. This time, we will coordinate with the Butterfly Estates to bring more incentives for attendees, plus goodies and surprises provided by the other venues in the complex.

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE MARKET (There are some new requirements. Please read thoroughly)

This type of market is slightly different from traditional farmers markets,  as only handcrafted, small batch, locally-made products are allowed to be sold. In addition, the vendors are encouraged to conduct demonstrations of their process used to create their inventory.

The Fort Myers Makers’ Market is a collective effort, sponsored by the Butterfly Estates, Thrifty Garden and DAAS CO-OP Art Gallery & Gifts. It will be held in the complex of the Butterfly Estates at 1815 Fowler Street.

The promoters are looking for artisans of, but not limited to, the following products:

• Candles, Soaps, lotions, etc.
• Pottery
• Clothing and other textile art
• Carvings (wood, metal, etc.)
• Paintings (all mediums)
• Jewelry (beaded)
• Other handcrafted (if you make it, you can sell it.)

Under FLORIDA Cottage Law:

• Bakers and/or dessert makers
• Lemonade or similar stand

The space provided will be 10 feet by 10 feet, approximately. Every vendor is required to provide their own 10’ x 10’ professional tent. Flimsy beach or camping tents are not permitted. We recommend the E-Z Up Event Shelter (ezup.com) tent for this marker, preferably in white.

Each vendor must supply their own tables (folding, 72 inch length), tablecloths, displays, stands, easels, pedestals, chairs, signs, etc.

No electricity will be provided for this event. Should you require electricity for your display, please email acevedostudio@yahoo.com to inquire about other options.

All items must be completed, labeled and professionally displayed. Vendors must supply their own bags, tissue paper, etc.

It is also recommended that vendors have a system in place to accept credit card payments, such as Square Point of Sale (square.com). All vendors are responsible for their own transactions and for collecting and reporting Florida Sales Tax of 6.5%.

There are only 15 vendor spaces available for this event. For Food vendors, we have 3 additional spaces. These will be granted on a first come, first serve basis – once accepted by the promoters. Vendor spaces must be paid in advance and the cost is $20 per space. For this event, we will not allow vendors to rent more than one space.

In order to be considered as a vendor for the Fort Myers Makers’ Market, you must:

• complete and submit the application and prepay the $20 space fee (non-refundable).
• Submit a minimum of 3 images of your product (Vendors with prior participation do not have to follow this step)

Vendors are expected to adhere to ethical and professional standards of conduct. The promoters of this event reserve the right to admission.

Applicants will receive notification of acceptance within two weeks from submission. If applying outside of this sign-up, they will have until October 23, 2021 to submit space fee payment. A waiting list will be maintained for vendor spaces, in the event that someone does not pay the fee or cancels participation.
