For over 30 years, Blancett has worked in the advertising and publishing industries, as a creative/art director for clients ranging from Citibank to The Walt Disney Company. “I love the business, but creativity is sometimes limited by a market, product or theme. My fine art allows me the fuel and freedom to express myself, my feelings and my individuality. It allows me to be me,” says the artist, who started painting and winning awards for his work at the young age of seven. His paintings are in the collection of notable celebrities, and in corporate and private collections around the world. His work has been featured in numerous publications and exhibited in galleries in the U.S. and internationally. In addition, Blancett’s paintings have been exhibited at Art Basel in Miami; New York; London, England; Vienna, Austria; Strasbourg, France; Tokyo, Japan and in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, where he has a second home and studio. He has been published twice in the International Art Books, Contemporary Masters CollectionBlancett’s main studio is located in the small country town of Alva, Florida, where he lives with his husband, James, and their two dogs and two parrots.

“In my abstract paintings, I explore how we as humans feel about our lives and the various emotions that they evoke. Some of these feelings come from significant moments in life like family or career events; others stem out of a sense memory such as traveling abroad for the first time. Ultimately it is those innermost personal thoughts which provide inspiration to create an image focused on your own self-reflection.” – he concludes.
